Aynı zamanda Ergun Çağatay’ın Biz Buralıyız: Türk-Alman Yaşamı 1990 Ergun Çağatay Fotoğrafları sergisi ile birlikte yaratılan bu anlatılar bütünü; kişisel hikâyeler, şarkılardan mâl olmuş popüler anlatılar ve yakın zamanda yapılmış antropolojik araştırmalarla üç anlatı biçiminde inceleniyor. Ladies on Records, serginin ardındaki motivasyonu şu şekilde anlatıyor:“Dünyada on yıllardır göç alanında yapılan çalışmalar, kadın göçü söz konusu olduğunda yetersiz kalmıştır. Bunun yanı sıra Türkiyeli kadınların göçü de önemsenmemiştir. Erkek işçilerin göçünün Almanya’daki Gastarbeiter (misafir işçi) olgusunu oluşturduğuna ve bu olguyu tamamıyla tanımladığına dair varsayım, kadınların geçmişinin önemli ölçüde göz ardı edilmesine sebep oldu. Kadınların, esas olarak gelin, eş ve anne sosyal rolleri tarafından şekillendirilmiş bireyler olarak ele alınması, araştırmacıların, bu kadınların kişisel kararlarını, arzularını ve hedeflerini görmezden gelmesine yol açtı. Toplum düşünce olarak, kadınların ataerkinin kurbanları olduğuna odaklanmıştır. Photographer and journalist Ergun Çağatay (1937–2018), travels five German cities between March - May 1990: Hamburg, Cologne, Werl, Berlin and Duisburg. He documents the migration from Turkey with a photo-interview series.
